Siem Reap post 2- The Temples

It is a hot and dusty environment travelling through the temples. The tour buses and exhaust fumes didn't help. People wear the masks made popular by the SARS outbreak, they even sell them in the convenience store, or you can just grab whatever you can.
BANTEY SREI- This is a small temple with the most intricate carvings in Angkor Wat. The rock has a pinkish tint to it, a sweet temple to begin the day with. (bottom 2 pictures)
RIVER OF A THOUSAND LINGAS- The linga is a symbol of male fertility and they are carved into and around the the river bed that travels down a mountain, culminating in a waterfall. After hiking up a long and steep trail, the carvings begin at the a pool where buddahs and gods can be seen coming out of the rocks. It is truly amazing to see the amount of effort in creating this mix of natural and manmade beauty. The last pool before the waterfall had a apsara (woman dancer) carved into the edge. I love the way the light was hitting it when I took the picture. (top 2 pictures)
