It is my last week in my TEFL course. I taught my first class last week and today was my fifth exercise. It was on "this" and "that" which proved to be a hard concept for them to grasp but they got it by the end of class. It was a lot more fun to teach than the Past Continuous tense with an interrupted action! The children are eager to learn and very respectful and polite, though the boys can be a handful. The classes are held in an open air area with multiple classes going on simultaneously. It's fun when your class answers questions from the teacher next to you.
It has been a lot of work with a lot of late nights but I have met some great people. I've written lesson plans and made copious sets of flashcards. My reviews have been good and I'm getting better with every class. This week.....................phonology.
Karen,
ReplyDeleteI am so proud of you. It takes a lot of courage to pursue your dreams to the extent you are. You look great, relaxed and happy. I wish you the best as you continue on your journey.
Love, Cindy
Thanks Nin,
ReplyDeleteI appreciate it. I am taking things as they come and following my gut. It si scary, exciting and unknown but I'm figuring it out as I go!
XOXOXOXO
Hello MMBAT (i added in Thailand!),
ReplyDeleteyou look so happy! how wonderful. Seeing those pictures remind me of you describing your dream job during that milton glaser workshop, being outdoors, relaxed!
i just saw the milton glaser documentary. it was good! he spoke afterwards too, he's so inspiring :)
i can imagine that you miss italian food, as much as i love asian food, esp thai, i would miss variety. it was like being in italy, i got sick of italian food! can we send you a care box with good Barilla? send me your address!
love laura
Honey, how sweet. Maybe when I have a permanent address in Thailand, Barilla would be a more then welcome treat. I think about that Milton Glaser class A LOT! So many things have come true, I even described me on a motorbike with my dog at one point, a very common scene in Chiang Mai.
ReplyDeleteKaren! I bet you are such a great teacher! I'm pretty sure your students are learning tons from you, but I'm absolutely POSITIVE that they are charmed! Thank you for being an excellent ambassador for us all.
ReplyDeleteAre you in a permanent spot now? Will you teach in the same place for two years? Are you learning to speak Thai?
We are so impressed with you and your adventure and think about you all the time.
Love you! Janer (& Gin)
