Arrived in Singapore to visit Scot and Laura and their sons, Shane and Cole. My first night I was introduced to the "hawker stands" a bevy of food stalls that sell good, inexpensive food to throngs of hungry people. The term hawker was used to once describe the bartering and selling of goods in the stalls, that since have been streamlined to include only food. The available dishes are displayed on ice and on signs surrounding the tables. It was an exciting and vibrant introduction to dinner, Singapore-style. I had the opportunity to try bar-b-qued sting ray which had the texture and taste of crab. Delicious! The raw ray is shown filleted on ice in the photos, below the bi-valves.
Karan, I am glad to see that you made it to Singapure and are still enjoying the adventures of asian food :-)
